August 22, 2008 Dear Students and Parents:
The entire staff at the Oakville School District is excited about the up and coming school year. Your teachers have been working hard in their classrooms as well as attending summer classes in preparation for your return to school.
School starts on September 2nd at 8:00 am and ends at 2:25 pm. Breakfast starts at 7:40.
Your packet includes important paper work that must be returned to school on the first day. If you have any questions regarding this information please call Lesley Gillie in grades 7-12 at 273-5947 or Anna Hoxie in grades K-6 at 273-5946.
Our K-12 student handbook will be available at open house and also mailed out to community members. Our staff and students have also developed an Oakville School CD which will further outline our safe and civil school wide procedures for the 08-09 school year.
Important Reminders include:
1. Our school policy #3242 requires the district to maintain a closed campus.
2. Electronic devices such as: cell phones, Ipods, MP3 and CD players can only be used before and after school and during the lunch periods for grades 9-12. Students in grades K-8 are not permitted to bring electronic devices to school.
3. Sunglasses are not to be worn during school hours between 8:00 and 2:30 unless prescribed by a physician and on file in the office.
4. Hat and Hoodies can be worn with the exception of each classroom instructor's rules and procedures.
